BLOG

Love

Hey, Leah here.  I wanted to introduce myself as the other half of Domestica.  And I thought since Valentine's Day is coming up there couldn't be a better way to tell you about myself than to share with you my loves.  Since this is going to be a blog about "feathering your nest" there is going to be a lot of "what we're loving now"  kind of posts going on in which we will be showing you pictures of to die for interiors, lovely textiles, funky Etsy finds, etc.  But I'm going to kick this foray off by writing about what led me here to Domestica.

Growing up in the eighties, with a mother who fought for the ERA in her day, I was told that I could and should have just as much professional ambitions as any boy my age.  I had shoulder-padded visions of a life as an executive, or possibly an academic.  But as I came of age, despite my classes in "Historical Issues of Gender", "Feminism and Western Art", and the like, I found myself coming back to the things that I truly loved and they were far from what I, an educated and liberated woman, was supposed to be loving.  I found that I, in fact, LOVE cooking.  Even more I LOVE sewing.  And even more I LU-HUV gardening.  And even more, I LU-HU-HUV, furniture and design.  I could go on and on about what color to paint what wall and how to carry that pattern throughout the first floor and it was through just such chats that I found myself runnning around with the likes of Ms. Chrissy, who shares a love of all things, well, Domestica.  And the rest is history.
