New RUE Magazine
Rue Magazine's latest issue's on everyone's tongue + I've been tweeting with some of the people who worked on it, so I totally checked it out.
It's pretty slick. As a print veteran, my only real criticism is that it seems to lack a definable personality, but that could be that I'm just not seeing it. Great photos, interviews with design-world heavy hitters like Grant Gibson* and legendary designer Vincente Wolf, downloadable freebies*, idea boards, art, food + fashion - absolutely worth a look.
If nothing else, it's a peek into the future - budgets spent on design rather than paper + printing, details that aren't lost in the gutter, design rather than ad-driven layouts, home tours as long as a Vanity Fair expose and, well, I'm calling "firsts" on this one, the over-saturation-to-the-point-of-nausea of the inspiration board.
*There are all kinds of free downloadable notecards and invites inthis issue - all cute, all easy to assemble.
