Please Vote For Our Holiday Window Display!
Each holiday season, the shops + businesses in our neighborhood decorate their windows as part of a friendly neighborhood contest. This year, some businesses created window displays championing wonderful local non-profits. Domestica joined forces with RUN DSM - the amazing/inspiring performing artists/poets from Harding Middle School + North High (tho students fr across the District can join). The students created the raddest shrink plastic ornaments which we displayed and sold for $2 each during Promenade.
All of the money raised goes to their group. They're raising money to attend the national youth poetry slam, Brave New Voices. If you read about them in the awesome Des Moines Register article, the WHO-TV feature or have seen them perform, you know they're really cool kids. I met some of them who stopped by to thank us + I can't say enough about how awesome these young women and men are - I couldn't be more impressed or more inspired. Just in case you don't read the article - they perform to raise money for other non-profits. Yep, that's right. In just one year, they've already raised $2,000 for other organizations.
I'm proud to say we've already raised over $100 and we still have ornaments left. If you're not interested in an ornament, we're also accepting donations - check out their website, read The Register article (link above) and then SEND A COUPLE BUCKS TO RUNDSM USING THIS HANDY LINK!
